Zooey + Ben sitting in a Tree

Awwww two of my fave famous people just got engaged and they are soooo suited and so super cute! I have had a bit of style-crush on Zooey Deschanel for like, forever! She is so damn classy and can pull off a vintage frock like no other. And I love Ben Gibbard from Deathcab for Cutie as he is so 'geek-chic' and one talented fellow. Bless their cotton socks they are the perfect couple!

Guilt-Free Junk

Today I joined the gym! I thought it was a good idea to make a commitment before the new year as new year resolutions can sometimes be hard to keep as there is so much hype! I feel so great after my workout but I am sure my muscles will be super sore tomorrow. But no pain, no gain right?

Not only have I embraced excersise into my daily routine I have immersed myself with a healthy menu-plan. I had the most delicious breakfast of mango, banana and yoghurt this morning mmmm! So to celebrate my new health kick I bought this hilarious Origami Hamburger Set from
The Curious Shoppe which will sit onto of my fridge for the ultimate guilt-free junk food snack! I also this its super cute and very clever!

Are you making New Years Resolutions this year? If so, what are they?

Snail Mail

I love getting mail (this includes junk mail from department store like Target and Big W and I'm not sure why?!) especially when its something exciting like an invite, a parcel or a postcard I get so excited like its my birthday! I discovered this nifty idea which combines snail mail and art...curious?

The clever kids at Decoylab have created a 2009 Calendar Postcard and this is how it works: Each month you will receive a monthly postcard calendar in your mailbox throughout the year 2009. Postcard has a monthly calendar on one side and an image on the other. Every month a card is designed, printed and sent. How super great is this? Not only do you get a cute print, its useful!

I can't wait to recieve my first 'January' print in the mail! Hooray for 2009!

P.S Oh yeah my slogan/catchphrase for the new year is '2009 is going to F-I-N-E!' because I thought '2008 was not that great!' (tee hee)!

Prom Date

Gwenyth Paltrow in Shakespeare in Love

At highschool my Year 12 Ball was 'the event' of the year on the social calendar. Me and my girlfriends spent hours planning hair-styles, dresses, nailpolish colours and of course our dates. I asked a boy who I had known since I was 6 years old, we went to primary school together though we were never really friends or really knew each other well. We worked at our local supermarket where I was a checkout chick and he stocked the shelves. Looking back I think I asked him because he was tall. I am tall so I guess I thought this would look good in the photos!

Anyways, after having a disastrous time getting ready -this included leaving my hairdresser looking like Shirley Temple when I had specifically asked for Gwyneth Paltrows 'Shakespeare in Love' hair (yep it was the 90's) With me in tears my mum took me to another hairdresser who smoothed my ringlets into a chic blow-wave (thank goodness!) my date arrived kissed me on the cheek, grunted hello and asked if I had any beer for the limo. What is wrong with this story you may ask? Well, I was the only girl whose date did not present her a corsage. I was completely miffed (though I didn't let on).

So since then I have have had a obsession with corsages. I think they are the most beautiful things as I love the idea of wearing a miniature bouquet of flowers around the wrist. They are almost like pieces of art! I went to wedding earlier this year where the bridesmaids held parasols and wore delightful purple corsages instead of the traditional bouquet and I squealed with glee!

Laurie Cinotto is one of my favourite florists/artists. I think her work is amazing as she couples quirky objects like miniature birds and porcelain rabbits with an unusual mix of floral, feathers and buttons. Aren't they so pretty?

P.S: A week after the ball I was at a party and my ball date appeared and handed my a corsage made out of frangipanis and mumbled that he felt bad he had forgotten to give me a corsage-awww bless! I happily wore my new corsage with my jeans for the rest of the night!

Weather Lady

I have always been memorised by Kat Macleod’s collage ladies. They are always super chic and always stylish. I've been a fan Michi Girl for a while which is a daily email weather forecast for Melbourne featuring Kate Macleod beautiful work. Every afternoon round 3pm an email pops up from Michi Girl which is quirky a little cheeky and delightfully illustrated and it definitely cures my 3.30-itis!

For Christmas I ordered this super neat book for my shop- Like a I give a Frock and boy was it a keeper! It is beautifully illustrated and cleverly written and I think its the perfect read for summer. Michi is described as 'sometimes stylish and sometimes tragic, but she always knows best. She's sharp and funny. And maybe just a tiny bit opinionated.'

Sometimes I wish I was as handy with a pencil and a set of watercolours as Kat Macleod. Oh, green with envy!

Dear Diary,

When I was younger I always wanted to keep a diary. I thought it would be neat to read when I was older and wiser and laugh at all the funny and frivolous things I did, who I crushed on and my youthful aspirations. But for some reason I could never get past day 10 and I would get distracted with something else and forget all about it. So I see writing a blog as a type of visual diary and a daily record of my own experiences, observations, feelings and inspirations. And you can bet that I will be celebrating at post 10!

I am in much awe of the blogging universe and want to immerse myself in it. I have been reading blogs for quite a while and love following my favourite bloggers advice and ideas and so I suddenly feel the time has come to own a my own little slice of the blog-a-sphere. I must confess I did dabble in it earlier this year and failed miserably as life threw me some obstacles and my new found blog was soon forgotten and neglected (quite like my diaries I guess!). But this time it's different (I pinky-promise!), not sure why but I must say I'm pretty excited! I hope we can become friends, I think that would be neat!
